Press Release: US-Nigeria Roundtable Conference on Food Security & Safety Set to Drive Global Collaboration

The US-Nigeria Roundtable Conference on Food Security & Safety, part of the African Industrialization Roundtable Series, will take place on October 7th and 8th, 2024, at the prestigious Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja. This landmark event is set to bring together world-renowned experts, academics, and industry leaders from Nigeria, the United States, and beyond, to discuss experiential learning and business opportunities in food security and safety.

 

Organized in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), African Food Safety Initiative (AFSI), and Central State University, this two-day conference will serve as a crucial platform for fostering dialogue on improving food security and safety practices, leveraging shared experiences from both the Nigerian and US perspectives.

The conference will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, and in-depth presentations from distinguished speakers and lead discussants, including:

The conference will explore how both nations can capitalize on emerging trends and technologies to ensure sustainable food security solutions. Participants will engage in knowledge-sharing sessions, focusing on global best practices in food safety and how to apply these insights to address local challenges, especially in Nigeria’s agricultural sector.

Prof. Hussaini Doko Ibrahim, Chairman of the event, stated, “This conference is a unique opportunity for Nigeria and the US to exchange innovative ideas on food security and safety. It allows us to learn from each other and develop strategies to improve food safety standards in Nigeria while opening up business opportunities for entrepreneurs in both countries.”

The event will also promote bilateral cooperation, exploring investment opportunities in food processing, storage, and distribution, as well as fostering partnerships between public and private sector stakeholders in agriculture and food industries.

The US-Nigeria Roundtable on Food Security & Safety promises to be a pivotal gathering that will lay the groundwork for a more secure, sustainable, and collaborative food system. As food security remains a pressing global concern, this conference aims to drive impactful solutions for both nations, contributing to the broader goal of achieving sustainable development across Africa.
